The teaser for Prabhas’s Adipurush, starring Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon, was recently released on the internet. The film sparked a major controversy soon after its release. Netizens chastised the filmmakers for allegedly making fun of Hindu gods. Several people were dissatisfied with Saif Ali Khan’s portrayal of Raavan, among other things. The film is now being called into question, and some are calling for it to be banned. In the midst of the uproar, here’s a look at who said what about Adipurush.

Om Raut’s Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon, has received mixed reviews since its teaser was released. The audience has been critical of the visual effects and the appearance of the iconic Ramayan characters. However, the director has been attempting to defend his film, and now Ramanand Sagar’s son, Prem Sagar, has finally spoken out about it.

Over this, Ramanand Sagar’s son Prem defended Om Raut. In an interview with Times of India, he said that one can stop anyone from making anything and that ‘Dharma changes with time’.

Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan has become one of the most epic mythology drama television serials. In a recent interview, Om Raut stated that his Ramayan had a huge influence on him. Prem, Ramanand’s son, has now expressed his thoughts on the matter.

Prem Sagar defended Om Raut in an interview with the Times of India, asking, “How can you stop anyone from creating anything?” During the same conversation, he also stated that “dharma changes with time” and that “Om Raut did what he thought was okay”.

Further into the discussion, Prem Sagar refused to take sides, revealing that Om Raut did not name his film ‘Ramayan,’ so he has done nothing wrong in his opinion. He went on to say that Om would have cancelled the project if there were any inaccurate portrayals of his “culture and upbringing”.

Well, it’s just not the audience, but the Ayodhya head priest has also bashed Adipurush’s teaser and demanded a ban on the film. On the other hand, actors Mukesh Khanna and Sunil Lahri, have also commented on the controversy.

Shaktimaan actor Mukesh Khanna created a video to slam the makers of Adipurush. He especially slammed Saif Ali Khan and stated that if the film is based on Ramayan than he cannot change the characterisation of Raavan. He even compared Saif Ali Khan’s character in the film to that of Mohammad Khilji.

Sunil Lahiri, who played Laxman in Ramayan, criticised the film’s visual effects in an interview with DNA. He stated that no one wants to make an effort to create something extraordinary these days. He also claimed that’modern technology has surpassed narration’.

The director of the film Om Raut also spoke about the controversies revolving around Adipurush. To Aaj Tak, he said the depiction of Saif Ali Khan is such because they wanted to show what Raavan would look like in today’s time.

Om Raut opened up about the negativity that Adipurush has been receiving and told Indian Express, “The film is made for a larger medium—the big screen. You can cut it down to some extent but can’t bring it down to a mobile phone”.

In Adipurush, Prabhas plays Ram, and Saif Ali Khan plays Ravana. It is set to be released in January 2023. What are your thoughts? Please let us know in the comments!
