‘Brahmastra- Part One: Shiva', the fantasy action drama directed by Ayan Mukherji and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkinen finally hit theatres today after a five-year wait. Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, has set a new box office record in India. According to early estimates, the film earned between Rs. 36.50 and Rs. 38.50 crores on its first day, making it the biggest non-holiday opening ever for a Hindi film. Brahmastra has outperformed prepandemic blockbusters such as Sanju, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Dhoom 3.
Brahmastra has broken the collections of the Diwali 2021 release, Sooryavanshi, and has become the biggest pandemic opener for the Hindi Film Industry. The Hindi version has earned around Rs. 32 crores, with the South version earning an additional Rs. 5 crores.
The SS Rajamouli factor has contributed the film in the Telugu belts, with the Telugu version adding around Rs 3.5 to 4 crore gross. Brahmastra's all-India nett is expected to be approximately Rs 36 crore, with a gross total in excess of Rs 42 crore.
The very first day marked the beginning for Brahmastra to score a century in three days, joining the exclusive club of Rs. 100 crore weekends. The film has also had a strong start in international markets, with a global opening expected to exceed Rs 50 crore, which is nothing short of spectacular. If this start is any indication, Brahmastra will put up a strong total in its opening weekend, and word of mouth will come into play starting Monday.
No one can ever ruin a good movie theatre, no matter what. The film starring Ranbir and Alia has a long way to go, so we must reiterate that this is just the beginning!
