Chhello Show, also known as Last Film Show, is based on Pan Nalin’s childhood love of cinema in rural Gujarat and is set at the dawn of the digital revolution. The story is set in a rural village in Saurashtra and revolves around a nine-year-old boy who develops a deep love for cinema after bribing his way into a small movie theatre where he spends his summer watching films with the projection booth operator.

Starring debutant child actor Bhavin Rabari as Samay, Chhello Show premiered at the 2021 edition of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. According to reports, the film will be screened in 95 theatres across India, with tickets priced at Rs.95, a day before its official release on October 14.

The film’s Trailer was released earlier on YouTube Channel named “Pan Nalin Works” and by captioning the trailer video wrote, “When you have nothing, nothing stops you”.

Rahul Koli, a child actor best known for his roles in Chhello Show and Last Film Show, died of leukaemia on October 2. He was 10. Rahul is one of six child actors in the film, which is India’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards. According to a report, Rahul’s father Ramu Koli stated that the late child actor suffered from fever and vomited blood frequently before his death. He stated that Rahul’s final rites would be performed first, followed by the family watching Chhello Show together.

Speaking to Times of India, Ramu Koli said, “On Sunday, October 2, he had his breakfast, and then after repeated bouts of fever in the following hours, Rahul vomited blood thrice, and just like that my child was no more. Our family is devastated. But we will watch his ‘last film show’ together on the release day on October 14 after we perform his final purification rituals”.

Nalin Kumar Pandya (Pan Nalin), the director of Chhello Show, stated that the film’s team was present at the hospital where Rahul was admitted during his final days and that “he could not be saved.” Rahul played Manu in Chhello Show and is close friends with Samay, the film’s main character.

The film will make its Official release in Theatres on October 14, 2022.
