“Rebel Star” Krishnam Raju Passes away

Uppalapati Krishnam Raju, a veteran Telugu actor, passed away on September 11 at the age of 82. His wife and three daughters were by his side in his last hours. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and south superstars Prabhas and Chiranjeevi were among those who paid their respects.

‘PM Narendra Modiji’ tweeted a picture with veteran actor and two-time Loksabha member and his family and wrote, “Saddened by the passing away of Shri UV Krishnam Raju Garu. The coming generations will remember his cinematic brilliance and creativity. He was also at the forefront of community service and made a mark as a political leader. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti”

Not only the Prime Minister, but also India’s Defense Minister, ‘Rajnath Singh’, expressed shock and sadness at Krishnam Raju’s death. And tweeted,“Shocked by the demise of Legendary Actor and former MP, Krishnam Raju garu. He will be remembered for his excellent performances in several Telugu films. He had a wonderful and magnanimous personality. My condolences to Prabhas, his entire family and admirers. Om Shanti”.

Krishnam Raju, a well-known actor and politician, died from complications related to COVID-19 at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology Hospitals in Hyderabad, India.

The last rites for former Union Minister U.V. Krishnam Raju were performed at Maha Prasthanam in Jubilee Hills on Monday afternoon. His mortal remains were kept at his home, until Monday afternoon to allow fans to pay their respects and condolences.

Uppalapati Venkata Krishnam Raju (20 January 1940 – 11 September 2022) was an Indian actor and politician. He was known for his works in Telugu cinema and was widely known as “Rebel Star” for his rebellious acting style. He was also the winner of the inaugural Nandi Award for Best Actor. Krishnam Raju starred in more than 183 feature films in his career. He made his film debut with the 1966 film Chilaka Gorinka produced and directed by K. Pratyagatma. Krishnam Raju had won five Filmfare Awards South and three state Nandi Awards. Krishnam Raju was also an active politician.
