Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Nanda Bachchan spilled more beans about her childhood on her daughter Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcast What The Hell Navya.
Navya Nanda Naveli has been hogging all of the attention since she joined the podcast platform. The star kid, who is now a successful entrepreneur, launched her podcast What The Hell Navya, in which her mother Shweta Bachchan and grandmother Jaya Bachchan joined her and spilled many secrets. Shweta recently opened up about her childhood on the podcast, revealing how Jaya used to beat her.
Shweta Bachchan recalled her mother, Jaya Bachchan, being very particular about her participation in extracurricular activities when she was a child. Shweta went on to say that she had to do Bharatnatyam, Hindi classical music, swimming, sitar, and piano, but Jaya was very free with her slaps. “I got slapped a lot. The ruler got broken on me once. She used to beat me a lot,” quipped Shweta. Jaya on the other hand in her defense said that Abhishek Bachchan hardly got slapped. “I believe always the first child gets thrashed. I got thrashed a lot as a child. My sisters didn’t”, said Jaya.
After hearing this, Navya Naveli Nanda was curious as to what her mother had done to deserve a beating from granny Jaya. So the Guddi actress joked that Shweta was annoying and obstinate. Amitabh Bachchan was against Jaya raising her hands on Shweta when she became angry and impatient. “The maximum punishment he gave was to stand in the corner,” Shweta revealed. “I liked that punishment because I used to make up stories and talk to myself in the corner,” she explained.
As a child, Shweta had given some tough days to Jaya, but now, the veteran actress considers Shweta and Navya as her best friends. “In the last two years, my best friends have been Navya and Shweta. I can say anything I like to them, and they will tell me off, especially Shweta. Somebody telling you ‘I don’t agree with you’ is important. I would want to grow at this age too”. Jaya stated.
Jaya Bachchan will star alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film was recently completed, and in addition to Jaya, we will see Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles.
