Yashoda is an upcoming Indian science fiction thriller film written and directed by duo Hari–Harish. Produced by Sridevi Movies, it is simultaneously shot in Telugu and Tamil languages. The film stars Samantha as the titular character alongside Unni Mukundan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.
On Thursday, October 27, the makers of the film released the film’s Trailer on their Official YouTube Channel named “Aditya Movies” & wrote “Watch & Enjoy Yashoda (Hindi) Trailer. Samantha, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Unni Mukundan, Rao Ramesh, Murali Sharma, Sampath Raj, Shatru, Madhurima, Kalpika Ganesh, Divya Sripada, Priyanka Sharma and others are playing major roles”.

In the trailer we see that the film ‘Yashoda’ is focused mainly on the issue of surrogacy. While commercial surrogacy is now illegal in India, the film appears to take place when it was legal. Samantha’s Yashoda is one of the patients at a massive facility that houses and cares for women willing to rent their wombs for money. The catch is that the entire operation is run by a large corporation, and when a large corporation is involved, we can expect to uncover something very rotten beneath the clean and swanky structures. Yashoda appears to come across something heinous, which leads her down a path of agony and merciless beating.
The trailer promises an exciting thriller with plenty of opportunities for Samantha to show off her action skills. There’s even a brief scene where we get to see her fight a few guards with just a baton. According to the trailer, the story revolves around Yashoda, who agrees to be a surrogate mother for money. She joins Eva, a company that assists people in realising their dreams of becoming parents through surrogacy. However, not everything is as black and white as it appears at Eva.

In an interview, Hari-Harish the director of the movie said, “The backdrop of the story is about a crime which is happening without the knowledge of anyone in the society. The crime which we are showing is based on a true incident but we have added some psychological thriller flavour to it. It is about a crime that is confronted by a normal girl when she learns about it. How she exposes is the plot”.
Samantha, who is currently basking in the success of her previous release Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, is excited for the release of her upcoming magnum opus Shakuntalam.
Yashoda is set to Hit the Big Screens on November 11, 2022.
