“It resurrects your faith in the entrepreneurial spirit of learning how to fail with grace,” says Prahlad Kakar, ad filmmaker and Founder-Chairman, Prahlad Kakar School of Branding & Entrepreneurship (PKSBE), on the sidelines of the annual ITCH Summit 2019 — an initiative by PKSBE held in Mumbai. The ITCH summit brings together a confluence of entrepreneurs and trendsetters across art, culture, literature, politics and social activism who have defined their circumstances. “Nobody here in this room has ever passed or become what they have become at the first chance,” Kakar says of the speakers’ gallery. “They have struggled, fallen, gotten up — time and again. But they never lost faith in the dream of what they wanted to be. This is what we need to teach our children — which is really what this conference is all about: It’s not success stories; it’s how to fail with grace and never give up.” The day-long conference sees a range of speakers sharing insights into their particular ‘itch’ which drove them to achieve both personal and professional fulfilment. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra holds forth on his ‘itch for passion’ from cooking to filmmaking, while Ankit Kawatra, Founder, Feeding India, shares his inspiring story about the itch to be a hunger hero. The perky Sucharita Tyagi of ‘Not A Movie Review’ fame talks about her itch to review films, while renowned social worker and activist Sindhutai Sapkal wins hearts sharing her desire to nurture orphans. Uday Deshpandey sharing his passion to put mallakhamb on the world map, Mamta Prasad speaking about her itch to survive, Door Step school founder Bina Lashkari discussing her urge to give children wings, transgender activist Gauri Sawant winning a standing ovation for her passion to care, Nawneet Ranjan of the Dharavi Diary project for children, and Badhaai Ho director Amit Sharma giving insights into his itch to tell unconventional stories are among the other speakers of the day. The feisty Vidya Balan has all riveted as she explains her itch to destroy perceptions, but possibly the best advice is offered by co-actor and speaker Raveena Tandon who ends her speech with the recommendation: “Discover your itch and scratch yourself silly!”
