Allah Ke Banday (2010)
The film Allah Ke Banday tells the story of two friends. Two boys were born into one of the world's largest slums, dubbed "Bhool Bhulaiyya" by the outside world and its residents, which means "a labyrinth," or "a place where once you get in, it's difficult to find your way out." Vijay, the intelligent one with dangerous ideas, and Yakub, the hot-headed unguided missile, begin their criminal careers at a young age, going from frequent drug carriers to committing their first murders at the ages of 12 and 13, respectively. Sentenced to juvenile prison for their crime, the two boys are thrust into the ruthless world of juvenile detention and its ancient patriarch, the dreaded juvenile prison warden—a world more turbulent and difficult to grow up in than the one day they left behind. The boys lose their voices for a bit, but this soon changes. They were not the kind to take it lying down, so they took matters into their own hands, committing their second murder inside the prison walls. A few years later, they achieve freedom, as well as the transition from childhood to boyhood and then manhood. The two boys form a gang of teenage kids after returning to the place where they once belonged with a desire to rule it. They are creating the same vicious circle of life that made them who they are now, just as they were. The young guns begin with a bang, but their initial success is fleeting. As devastating and unpredictable events occur, Vijay and Yakub will be forced to make decisions that will alter not just their fate, but their entire lives. Redemption is possible, but it comes at a cost.
