Anaarkali of Aarah (2017)

The story revolves around an erotic singer from Aarah, Bihar, who performs songs with multiple meanings. She personifies a popular characteristic of the region's local culture, namely orchestra or naach parties. Anaarkali is the troupe's star performer in this turbulent world; the feisty Anaarkali knows the ways of the world and is optimistic and secure in her performance. Until one fateful day, when Anaarkali is confronted by a region's most influential man. What follows is a chain of events that intensifies their feud, as the world around her becomes increasingly cruel and misogynist. She fights back after that.
