Bhindi Baazaar Inc. (2011)

Set in Mumbai's underbelly, between the notorious by-lanes where "Greed is a Culture" and "Deceit is a Compulsion," the film is set in the city's underbelly. The story follows Mumbai gangs who have adopted pickpocketing as an art form and a means of subsistence. To succeed in this risky career, they use their intellect as a canvas and their spontaneity as a brush. The tale of a pawn and his calculated moves to reach the other end of the chessboard is told in Bhindi Baazaar Inc. The film begins with a chess game between two players, Shroff and Darzi, and revolves around vicious crime syndicates. It emphasises a pawn's bold and well-planned moves to hit the opposite end of the board. Every action they take in the game corresponds to real-life events, such as how people are used or killed as the game progresses. The plot revolves around Fateh, a small-time pickpocket with aspirations to become a MAMU (local area don). Inside the company, the screenplay highlights the gritty politics, feared hierarchy, unspoken laws, authoritative orders, astute intellect, crafty humour, and cold blooded betrayals.
