Crazy Cukkad Family (2015)
The wealthy Mr. Beri enters his third coma at the start of this roller coaster journey. His four estranged children must return home to be with their father as he hopefully breathes his last breath, leaving behind his vast mountain estate. Mr. and Mrs Beri's oldest brother, Pawan Beri (Swanand Kirkire), is a hustler who is in serious trouble with a local mafia don turned politician. He is rude, brash, and arrogant, and he sees it with his own crooked eyes. Archana Beri (Shilpa Shukla) is an aspiring socialite who wanted to compete in the Miss India pageant but was forced to marry at a young age against her will. Now she is desperate to compete in the Mrs. India pageant. She is enraged by all in the world, including her own family. Her meek husband Digvijay (Ninad Kamat), who has a dual personality, is bullied by her. The New York-based son, Aman Beri (Kushal Punjabi), returns with his American wife, Amy (Nora Fatehi), who meets the family for the first time. He portrays himself as a top fashion photographer, but in fact, he is a jobless light child. Abhay Beri/Chotu (Siddharth Sharma) is the family's youngest son. There isn't much information about his current situation. He was sent to New Zealand to research years ago, but he never returned... until now! A village item teen, an extra slow family lawyer, and three goofy investigators join the four siblings as well as a slew of other odd and wacky characters. The confusion starts when they learn that they must marry Chotu in order to open their father's will. The dysfunctional Beri family is the focus of this novel, which is set in a lush green, picturesque hill station. A madcap adventure that is true to life, funny yet emotional, and a fast-paced but heartwarming tale about a family that has been apart for years, brought together by greed, yet eventually finding each other and discovering the meaning of family.
