Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001)

Gadar is the story of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), a Jatt truck driver who falls in love with Sakeena (Amisha Patel), a Muslim girl from an aristocratic family, during the communal riots of 1947. Tara assists Sakeena in eluding a gang of goons pursuing her, and the two form a delicate bond that blossoms into love. They marry and have a son, and Sakeena learns that her father, whom she had assumed was dead, is alive and well and is the Mayor of Lahore. He makes plans for his daughter to visit him in Pakistan. She travels to Pakistan by herself, completely oblivious to her father's plans to separate her from her husband and children. Tara must now cross the border in order to reclaim his love.
