Guru is a 2007 Indian biographical film loosely based on Dhirubhai Ambani's life as the founder of Reliance Industries. Gurukant Desai, who has spent his whole life in a village, arrives in Bombay in 1958 in search of jobs. His sole motivation is to gain respect from his father, whom he views as a disappointment. The storey follows him as he rises through the ranks to become India's richest businessman.
