Island City (2016)

Three comic-dramatic stories set in Mumbai are told in the film. The first is about a hardworking office worker who receives the office's "Fun Committee Award," which entitles him to a fun-filled day. He is apprehensive about leaving the comfort of his cubicle, but he has no choice. Non-compliance is not a choice when it comes to the enjoyable modules that have been prescribed. The second story starts with Anil, the family's domineering patriarch, who is on life support. In search of solace, his family agrees to purchase a television, which Anil had previously prohibited. Every night, the family watches a famous soap opera in which the hero, Purshottam, is a man who is perfect in every way, and they are smitten. Then, all of a sudden, word arrives that Anil is doing better and could be returning home soon. Would they be forced to release Purshottam? The third is about Aarti, whose monotonous nature is gradually turning her mechanical and numb. She is filled with a sense of disconnection and unease that she is unable to express to anyone. Then one day, a most personal letter arrives, and everything changes...
