Kidnap (2008)
Kidnap is a high-octane edge-of-your-seat thriller about a power struggle between a young boy and the father of the girl he kidnaps, from Sanjay Gadhvi, the master director of mega blockbusters like Dhoom and Dhoom: 2. Since her parents divorced when she was ten, Sonia (Minissha Lamba) lives with her mum, Mallika (Vidya Malvade), and grandmother. She is abducted a week before her eighteenth birthday celebration. Kabir (Imran Khan), the abductor, is only interested in speaking with her father, Vikrant Raina (Sanjay Dutt), an affluent Indian businessman based in New York, with whom he has an old score to settle. Vikrant returns to India to rescue his daughter from Kabir's clutches, but he must first complete a series of challenging tasks set out by Kabir as a condition for her release. Each task ends with a clue that assists Vikrant in getting closer to Sonia. But this mission is not as simple as it appears. How far will a father go to save his daughter? What hope does Kabir have in the end? Kidnap, Sanjay Dutt's first release of 2008, co-starring the latest teen sensation, Imran Khan, makes for compelling viewing as the big festival release on Eid.
