Madaari (2016)
A social media-fueled rumour spreads across India, backed by a single defiant lowly news channel named Strawberry TV. The Home Minister's ten-year-old son has been abducted. A diverse community of people from across India respond to this rumour, with some believing it and others expressing complete scepticism because they believe that the strong in this country cannot be touched. Unfortunately, the rumour, which has yet to be verified by the PMO, is right. Rahul was abducted on his way home from a nighttime outing. The HM, his advisers, and the lead investigator, Jt. Dir. CBI Nachiket Verma, are attempting to identify the kidnappers. Who may it be? Terrorists, perhaps? Who are the Naxalites? Men acting on the opposition's orders or powerful criminals? Is it possible that it was a case of mistaken identity? The response is none of these because the kidnapper contacts them directly. He's yet another father whose child has vanished. We have no idea where we are. He needs them to locate his son, and then he will return the HM's son. Nirmal, a regular techie by trade, has reached a point of insanity where death and its repercussions no longer scare him. As the cat and mouse game to catch him persists, and the public's increasingly fickle sympathies swing back and forth between one father and the other, a startling truth emerges.
