Manto (2018)

1h 56mins| Drama | 21st September 2018

The film chronicles the most turbulent four years in Manto's life, as well as the lives of the two countries in which he lives - India and Pakistan. Manto and his stories are widely read and embraced in Bombay's seedy-shiny film culture. However, as the country is engulfed in sectarian strife, Manto is forced to leave his beloved Bombay. He is bereft of friends and unable to find takers for his writings in Lahore. His drinking worsens, and he falls into a downward spiral. Throughout it all, he continues to compose prolifically and unaffectedly. This is the story of two developing countries, two struggling cities, and one man trying to make sense of it all.
