Saankal (2017)

A village in the Thar Desert has a peculiar collection of customs, taboos, and social ordinances dating back to the pre-independence period that prohibits village girls from marrying outside their group but not boys. However, after the India-Pakistan partition, when many Indian villages became part of Pakistan, the traditions came to a halt as the newly established government passed a new law that had significant ramifications on the lives of villagers, especially women.
