Saawariya (2007)

Saawariya is based on the short story "White Nights" by Fyodor Dostoevsky. It is the storey of Raj (Ranbir Kapoor), the lead singer at the RK bar, as told by Gulabji (Rani Mukherji). Gulabji offers to assist him in seeking jobs and a place to stay, and she takes him to Lilian (Zohra Sehgal). She allows him to stay because he reminds her of her son, who abandoned her many years ago and never returned. Raj falls in love with Sakina (Sonam Kapoor), only to find out that Sakina has been waiting for her boyfriend, Imaan (Salman Khan), who has vowed to visit her on Eid. He is heartbroken and refuses to profess his love for her. On the other hand, after Gulabji's advice, he takes Sakina to RK bar on Eid and sings a song for her. Sakina remembers that she has to reach Imaan and flees. When he does not arrive, she is heartbroken and agrees to accompany Raj. What remains to be seen is how Imaan's search for Sakina will affect their fate.
