Shahid (2013)

Shahid tells the story of Shahid Azmi, a slain human rights activist and prosecutor. Set in Mumbai during the communal violence that erupted in the city in 1993. We are witnessing the unfolding of a fascinating tale. Shahid traces the inspiring personal journey of a boy while following the rise of communal violence in India, from attempting to become a terrorist to being wrongfully imprisoned under the anti-terrorism law to becoming a lawyer and champion of human rights (particularly for Muslim minorities in India). An inspirational testimony to the human spirit is the story of an impoverished Muslim trying to come to terms with injustice and oppression and rising above his circumstances.
