After hearing that Afzal Khan has captured Aurangzeb, Badi Begum Sahiba declares a celebration in the Adilshahi dominion. However, Afzal Khan soon appears in her court, claiming that he had to release Aurangzeb because he was afraid of Marathi King Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj. Shivaji Maharaj conquered many forts and posed a threat to the Mughals, the most recent being the Konkan and Javli provinces. Badi Begum summons Shahji Raje Bhosale to her court, pleading with him to keep his son under control, fearing that he will dominate Bijapur in the coming years, and orders his arrest, prompting Afzal Khan to capture Shivaji Maharaj. Shahji Raje informs Shivaji Maharaj that Afzal Khan is marching towards him through his spies Vishwas Dighe and Bahirji Naik. After capturing Javli, Shivaji Maharaj chooses to build a new fort on the site, Pratapgadh, and prepares to meet Afzal Khan and his massive army by keeping a close eye on his movements. The cruel behemoth Afzal Khan marches towards Shivaji Maharaj from several directions, destroying many sites of devotion along the route. Shivaji Maharaj attempts to be patient and wait for Afzal Khan to make a mistake, but this does not sit well with his mother Jijabai because Afzal Khan is causing a commotion.Shivaji Maharaj then makes a wise move by convincing Afzal Khan that he is afraid of him and agrees to meet him at the newly built Pratapgarhh, taking safety precautions because Afzal Khan has a history of deception.
