Welcome to Sajjanpur (2008)

In this comedy film directed by Shyam Benegal, Shreyas Talpade and Amrita Rao play village folk. Mahadev (Shreyas) supports himself by writing socially affecting letters, much to the amusement of the other villagers, the majority of whom are illiterate. The film employs humour to illustrate the concerns and shortcomings of a modern Indian village. If Benegal films like Zubeida and Suraj Ka Saatva Ghoda have enthralled you in the past, Welcome to Sajjanpur is a must-see.
